Where shall I take my PopTent?

Welcome to the PopTent community. This is a place we like to share information with you and in return, welcome your feedback, correction, and any interesting information about the wider camping community you may like to share. We like to keep it simple, fun, and informative where we can. We make the fullest apology if we slip up or miss out anything you think we should have added or omitted. And, of course we would love to have you share your tips and tricks for a memorable PopTent outing.

 

If you are like us at PopTent and use camping to have fun, spend time with friends and family and friends, and show off your latest camping accessory then what better than to do this whilst surrounded by some of the natural beauty that the British Isles has to offer. We aimed to compile a list of 10 areas but could not leave out the farthest western reaches of England in Cornwall so made it 11!

 

  1. Snowdonia National Park, Wales: Snowdonia offers an immersive camping experience with its towering peaks, including Mount Snowdon, the highest in Wales. Park your car with your PopTent near tranquil lakes like Llyn Padarn or Llyn Gwynant and enjoy hiking trails that lead to panoramic vistas an if you like to brave some wild swimming then this is the place for you.

 

  1. Lake District National Park, England: England's Lake District boasts stunning landscapes of rugged fells and pristine lakes. Camp by the shore of Lake Windermere, England's largest lake, or Ullswater, known for its serenity. Wake up to the sound of water lapping against the shore and explore the park's abundant hiking trails. If you fancy a visit back in time then the Roman Remains or a visit to the areas industrial heritage might be for you.

 

  1. Scottish Highlands, Scotland: The Scottish Highlands offer wild camping enthusiasts a chance to escape into remote wilderness. Find a place to rest amidst the dramatic landscapes, surrounded by towering Munros (mountains) and serene lochs. This untamed beauty is perfect for those seeking solitude and adventure. For the linguists amongst you the highlands speak 3 different languages in English, Scots and Gaelic, so brush up on your common phrases (or take google translate with you!).

 

  1. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Wales: Experience coastal camping at its finest in Pembrokeshire.   1. Dartmoor National Park, England: Dartmoor's open moorlands offer a tranquil camping experience under expansive skies. Wild camping is allowed making it a favourite for stargazers. Explore ancient stone circles, tors, and picturesque rivers as you immerse yourself in the enchanting Dartmoor landscape.

 

  1. Isle of Skye, Scotland: The Isle of Skye is a dreamlike destination for PopTent tent camping. Park near iconic landmarks like the Old Man of Storr or the Quiraing, and wake up to surreal landscapes with rugged cliffs, emerald hills, and the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean.

 

  1. The Peak District National Park, England: The Peak District offers a diverse camping experience with its rolling hills, limestone caves, and gritstone edges. Be warned the summer months will be very busy so either be early or try to hit the shoulder seasons.

 

As we all know there is a plethora of places to visit on the British Isles and this list is far from exhaustive. I know there are some of you that will be smirking knowingly at us that we have overlooked your favourite hideaway.
